This extraordinary story begins with the happy news of a new member of the Williams family. Sarah's two young daughters are excited, as is her own mother, Jennifer Rees Larcombe. But the happiness is shortlived, as the scan at the hospital reveals that the baby has a condition which will mean severe skeletal deformity. Birth will be fatal. Sarah and husband Paul decide to go to full term and not abort, which shocks the staff at the hospital. So their personal anguish is exacerbated by the fight to maintain the baby's own dignity as a human being. Naming her is important - and they decide on Cerian, which is Welsh for 'loved one'. The title, based on 1 Corinthians 1:27 "God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong," throws out a challenge to a society that's poised to pass laws which threaten the very existence of its weaker members. This book is one of the most powerful testimonies to God's grace we have ever published. Its impact will be personal and political - Sarah has already had an impromptu session with the World Health Organization who were eager to hear her perspective. It's not often they encounter a mother who has both this kind of experience and the ability to articulate so many of the issues it raises.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (2010)

Experiencing and Overcoming Temptation

Overview

The third installment in the Chronicles of Narnia movies picks up after the events of Prince Caspian, as Lucy and Edmund return to the magical world of Narnia with their bratty cousin Eustace in tow. This time, the adventure is an exciting voyage on the open water, as the children join King Caspian and his crew to find the seven lost lords of Narnia (and their swords) and free the captives stolen by a malevolent mist.

Though grounded in fantasy, the Voyage is one we all take in life. Like Lucy, Edmund, Caspian, and Eustace, we face temptation all the time: vanity, pride, and greed, among others. But as illustrated in the story, with a little bit of humility on our part and confidence in our Savior, we too can overcome adversity and complete the journey.

1. Lucy — Finding Beauty in Identity

In C. S. Lewis’s books, Lucy Pevensie is often referred to as “Queen Lucy the Valiant” and she usually seems incapable of doing wrong. However, she still faces temptation in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, and the film version deviates from the book somewhat to explore this matter further. Dealing with the envy of her sister Susan's beauty, Lucy browses through a magician’s Book of Incantations and comes across a spell that will make her more beautiful. In the process, she ironically forgets herself (momentarily) while trying to improve her self-esteem.

2. Caspian and Edmund – Accepting Humility Along with Responsibility

Among the more subtle spiritual journeys in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader are those of Edmund and King Caspian. The film expands on a couple of Edmund’s offhand comments from the book, portraying him as a young man who longs to be a respected High King and warrior like his older brother, Peter. Similarly, King Caspian is still relatively new in his reign, and though he wishes to live up to his father’s reputation as a wise and brave ruler, he nearly gives up the responsibility of his throne for personal gain. Both characters are a fitting reminder that the virtue of humility comes with the responsibility of leadership.

3. Eustace – Transforming from Selfishness to Selflessness

At the heart of The Voyage of The Dawn Treader is the transformation of Eustace, the Pevensies’ bratty cousin. He begins the journey unwillingly, whiny and antagonistic along the way. But cursed treasure gets the better of Eustace’s selfish nature and reflects his ugly heart by changing him into a dragon. This puts him on a path to contrition and redemption, though it is only through the help of Aslan that he is ultimately able to “shed” his old self and become a new creation.

To knock down what Strobel calls "the Big Eight" roadblocks to faith, he questions experts about them rather than logically bulldozing his way to solutions. The Case for Faith is for those who may be thinking about the claims of the Bible but who are faced with formidable intellectual barriers standing squarely in their path. For Christians, it will deepen their convictions and give them fresh confidence in discussing Christianity with even their most skeptical friends.

The Big eight most convincing arguments against Christian faith:

Why? Grace, which to author Yancey means God’s love for the undeserving, i.e. all of humankind, and ungrace are possibly the two forces in most active conflict with each other daily across the world.

Grace for Yancey and many others is the one thing the world cannot provide; seeking it is probably ultimately why most people attend church. In the author’s words, "I rejected the church for a time because I found so little grace there. I returned because I found grace nowhere else." Many active churchgoers could say the same.

Yancey guides us into a clearer understanding of grace by using stories, in much the same way Jesus did. We read stories of both grace and ungrace at work in people's lives. Sadly, it is stories of ungrace that are more prevalent today, the current culture wars painful acknowledgments of ungrace in our lives as Christians in this country. Yancey helps us understand that ungrace is that state of being in which self-righteousness and pride are a result of thinking that we have somehow earned God's approval and may now stand in judgment in his behalf.

On grace avoidance, Yancey notes that the community that made Jesus angriest was the one that he most resembled on the surface: the Pharisees. He obeyed the Torah and quoted and supported leading Pharisees, who were model citizens of their day. Their legalisms He found toxic: for example, their expressions of love for God had evolved into ways of impressing others. Pray, He said, privately without show.

今日，他挑選了六位具潛質的學員，希望透過《聖經》中「鐵人挪亞」的九種精神，培訓他們去進行一個非常任務。這六位學員一直不知道教官身上的秘密，而教官亦不會知道自己的身體狀況何時會出現變化，在這最後一段路途上，充滿未知之數。

廿一世紀風雲人物 地球小子

特別報告：2009年4月至5月期間，本港東北部青馬大橋下出現一奇異人

物，他吸引了大批市民前往拜訪，至今已經有近五萬人報告，曾經與該人物發生正面接觸。據目擊者稱，該人物頭大身細，全身藍綠色，非常友好親切，主要出沒在青馬大橋下小島馬灣的船形建築物上。有與其對話的市民指，該人士自稱「地球小子」。
